Summary

Goal of the project is developing a model of community-based sustainable tourism (CBST) in Phobjikha and improve knowledge on environmental conservation among the local community.

  • Form a Steering Committee at a national level
  • Conduct study tours to conceptualize Bhutanese CBST
  • Identify and train village homestays, local guides and local souvenirs to generate income to local community
  • Develop Phobjikha homestay operation manual
  • Develop bird hides to observe black-necked cranes
  • Develop a board walk on the wetland for tourists
  • Conduct marketing and promotion for Phobjikha CBST
